Milk River Fire Department apparatus outside the hall

Town of Milk River · County of Warner

Small town.
Serious department.

A volunteer department covering fire, rescue, and medical first response, with mutual aid across the south country.

Who we are

A volunteer crew of neighbours, on call for the town and the county around it.

What we do

Fire is only part of it.

The department answers fire, rescue, and medical calls across a wide rural district, often a long way from the nearest city help.

Fire

Suppression

Structure, grass, and wildland-interface fire across the town and our district of the county, with tanker support where hydrants do not reach.

Rescue

Extrication

Vehicle and agricultural rescue on the highways and back roads, including the tools and training for a bad collision far from the city.

Medical

First response

Trained medical first response on scene ahead of the ambulance, because out here the difference is measured in minutes.

The fleet

Eight rigs, one hall.

County Pump Engine

2025 Freightliner M2

A pumper. Carries its own water and a pump to fight fire directly.

Our newest engine, and first out on most fire calls. A Fort Garry Liberator body with a 1250 gpm Darley pump, an 800 gallon tank, and a foam system. It pumps and rolls off a bumper turret, so it can fight grass fire on the move, and it brings traffic control and extra equipment to collisions.

Works alongside County Pump with the same job, adding pumping power and water. A Superior build with a 1250 gpm Watrous pump, an 800 gallon tank, and a foam system. It pumps and rolls off a bumper turret for grass fire on the move.
