Milk River Fire Department

Application to join

This is the first step, not the last. It takes about ten minutes. A few questions ask you to reflect, take your time with those, there are no right answers and no trick questions. We just want to get to know you a little.

← Back to the overview
SECTION 1 OF 4 About you The basics, so we can reach you and confirm a couple of essentials.
Please enter your name.
Please enter a valid email address.
A mobile number is best.
Please enter a phone number.
Are you legally entitled to work in Canada? *
Please choose one.
Are you 18 years of age or older? *
There is a minimum age for this role, so we have to ask. We do not need your date of birth.
Please choose one.
Can you reliably reach the Milk River fire hall within about 10 minutes when you are paged? *
For the crew to function, you need to be able to get to the hall quickly. This is about where you spend your time day to day, not your address.
Please choose one.
Not required to apply, however will be required for full duties.
SECTION 2 OF 4 Time and availability Being honest here helps us work out whether the schedule can actually fit your life, before either of us is disappointed.
Our crew trains regularly on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month as well as additional days for specialized training. Can you commit to attending training most weeks? *
Training is where readiness is built, so attendance matters more than almost anything else.
Please choose one.
When are you generally available to respond to calls? *
Tick all that apply. Nobody is available all the time, and that is fine. We are looking to ensure some members are available at all times.
Please tick at least one.
Only what you are comfortable sharing, and only what helps us figure out logistics. For example, shift work, travel for your job, or seasonal busy spells.
SECTION 3 OF 4 A few honest questions This is the part that matters most to us. Short, plain answers are perfect. We are listening for who you are, not how well you write.
There is no expected answer. Whatever is true for you is the right thing to write.
We would really like to hear this one.
It does not have to be dramatic. Work, family, sport, a friend in a tight spot, all of it counts.
Please share a short example.
We are not after a perfect answer. Knowing yourself honestly is the useful thing.
Please tell us a little about this.
Everyone has one. Naming it is a good sign, not a bad one.
Please give this one a thought.
SECTION 4 OF 4 The formal bits Nothing here is a test. It is the small print done plainly, so you know exactly what comes next.
Medical and fitness *
The role has real physical and mental demands. If you are offered a place, you may be required to complete a job-related medical examination and fitness assessment first. We will tell you exactly what it involves, and we accommodate needs where the law requires.
Please confirm you understand this step.
Criminal record check *
Emergency services involve trust and access to people's homes and lives, so a record check is part of joining. Having a record does not automatically rule you out. It is looked at only for relevance to this role and may not be required.
Consent to a record check is required to proceed.
Accuracy *
Please confirm before sending.
If anything about applying, training, or being assessed would be a barrier for you, tell us here, and we will work with you.
How this is handled. Your answers are sent straight to department administration by email, and that is all. Nothing is stored in a database or any system on this website. The department uses what you send only to consider your application and to contact you about it, keeps it secure, and does not use it for anything else. For any question about your information, get in touch with the department.

Once you send this, the Chief or a recruiter will follow up to talk things through. There is no commitment yet, and you can ask anything at any point.

That is in. Thank you.

We have your application. Someone from the department will be in touch soon to talk it through and answer your questions.
